Menashe is a hapless grocery store worker. Since his wife Leah died, he has struggled to make ends meet and to be a good father to his son Riven. Tradition prohibits Menashe from raising a child alone, and the boy is adopted by his next of kin. The hero remains one-on-one with a broken heart. But soon his rabbi gives him a whole week alone with his son. This is his chance to prove that he is a true believer and a good father, as well as to regain respect.
